Righting the Ship Again

Posted by Atsumori. Category:

The education seas in my parts have been wavy, very wavy, and my ship's navigation system continues to need adjustment in an effort to find the right course.  Why the persistent storms at sea?  Perhaps, the ship's navigational gear has been set for different waters, not the ones I'm currently sailing in, hence a new adjustment.

Focusing back on the children and their learning goals and needs rights the ship with strength.  The week ahead finds us solidifying place value, rounding, and estimation skills.  We'll also continue our persuasive writing essays, read aloud, and reading workshop.  Project work will find us completing Animoto "I Am" poems, Amazing Number Projects, weekly fact quizzes and some creative choices as well.

What do the children need at this time in the year?  They need lots of steady coaching, attention, feedback, and care.  Care that will be addressed during family conferences this week when I have a chance to share student data and stories as we set goals for the year ahead.

The classroom is the place where it's smooth sailing this year--lots of learning and lots of share, a place of wonder and care.  That's where my ed ship is sailing. We'll avoid the stormy seas elsewhere in the meantime.  Onward.
